Timothy Liau is an Assistant Professor of Law at the LSE Law School, part of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Previously, he held positions as Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the National University of Singapore and Stipendiary Lecturer in Law at Merton College, Oxford, where he taught Commercial Remedies on the BCL program. He is a Clarendon Scholar with degrees from Oxford (BCL, MPhil, DPhil) and earned his LLB as top student from NUS. His research focuses on private law, including contracts, unjust enrichment, restitution, commercial remedies, and legal theory. His book Standing in Private Law (Oxford UP, 2023) won the Peter Birks Prize and has influenced legal discourse globally, cited in high courts and major legal texts. He remains affiliated with the National University of Singapore’s EWB Centre for Law & Business and Centre for Legal Theory as an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Associate Academic Fellow, respectively.
