Jeanne Shea is Associate Professor of Anthropology at University of Vermont, specializing in medical anthropology, global health, and social gerontology. She directs the Health and Society Program and leads the Global Health Concentration.
Research Focus: Examines cultural influences on health, aging, and caregiving through mixed-methods research in China, Taiwan, Canada, and the U.S. Current projects include menopausal experiences in Beijing and spousal caregiving in Shanghai.
Education: PhD and MA in Anthropology (Harvard University), BA in Asian Studies (Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude).
International Recognition:
- Three-time Fulbright recipient (China: 1989-90, 2010s; Taiwan)
- Research collaborations across East Asia and North America
Program Development: Founded UVM's Global Health Concentration in Anthropology (2015/2017) and Health and Society Program (2018).
