Jeanne Norton is an Adjunct Instructor of Harp in the Department of Music at Wittenberg University, where she joined the faculty in fall 2013. She holds a performance degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under Alice Chalifoux and Marjorie Tyre (former harpist for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Metropolitan Opera). Norton is the founder/director of HarpOhio, a pre-college ensemble, and a founding member of the COSMOS viola-flute-harp trio.
Her artistic focus spans harp performance, chamber music, orchestral collaboration, and commissioning new works. She has premiered compositions by Harriet Bolz, Stephen Montague, and others, and recorded albums like Paradise and works with COSMOS on MSR Classics. Norton serves as principal harpist for Opera Naples and substitutes for the Columbus Symphony, with past roles in the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and Florida Symphony Orchestra.
Leadership includes board membership in the American Harp Society and chairing its 1985 Salzedo Centennial Conference.
