Dr. Jean Latimer is an Associate Professor and Director of the AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care at Nova Southeastern University's Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. She holds a B.A. and Ph.D., and her research focuses on breast cancer etiology, DNA repair mechanisms, and environmental carcinogenesis. Her lab develops organotypic breast tissue models to study tumor biology and drug discovery.
Her research interests include nucleotide excision repair (NER) deficiency in breast cancer, stem cell biology in mammary tissue, and evaluating environmental chemicals using in vitro models. Collaborations include institutions like the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University, focusing on proteomics and microarray analyses.
Recent publications highlight studies on Alzheimer's disease drug mechanisms, genomic instability in Gulf War veterans, and nuclear matrix protein alterations in ductal carcinoma in situ. The AutoNation Institute, established with a $10M donation, houses her lab within the Center for Collaborative Research.
