Jean Alavi

Jean Alavi is a renowned dancer, choreographer, and educator of Persian origin who has been a professor of contemporary dance at the Conservatoire de Paris since 2007. A state-certified teacher, he has extensive professional experience spanning over three decades, having performed with leading choreographers and companies across Europe. His work is deeply influenced by cinematographic and sound elements, blending dance with dreamlike and obsessive themes.

Education:

• Studied dance at La Rochelle Conservatory, France (first conservatory to open a contemporary dance class)
• Training in contemporary dance with Karin Waehner
• Training in classical dance with Colette Milner

Research Interests:

His choreographic work explores the intersection of body engagement, choreographic writing, and imagination, creating a fine line between dream and reality.
