Jayne Duff is a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work. She holds a PhD in French literature from the same university and is an FHEA-qualified educator. Her current role involves research on language education policies and primary/post-primary language trends across the UK, particularly with the British Council. Previously, she focused on gender narratives in 19th-century French literature, culminating in her doctoral thesis 'The Descendants of Eve: Rewriting the Fall in Nineteenth-Century French Literature.'
Her teaching roles include French language instruction at undergraduate levels and PGCE French grammar classes. She advocates for language education and supports early-career researchers through her committee role in UCML's ECA Special Interest Group.
Jayne's research spans language pedagogy, student attitudes toward languages, and curriculum development. Her recent publications analyze language teaching trends in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, emphasizing policy implementation and teacher preparedness. She has received a fellowship from the Department for the Economy NI and actively participates in academic conferences internationally.
