Jayanta Gupta is an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Department of Health Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), affiliated with the Marieb College of Health & Human Services. His research focuses on environmental health, chronic kidney disease, atopic dermatitis, and the genetic underpinnings of health disparities. He also investigates disaster-related health impacts, particularly post-hurricane environmental exposures.
Dr. Gupta’s work bridges public health, clinical research, and environmental science, with a strong emphasis on translational studies. His recent studies include assessing mold exposure in hurricane-affected homes, biomarkers for kidney disease progression, and the role of genetic factors in atopic conditions. He collaborates across disciplines to address health challenges in underserved populations, particularly related to environmental justice and chronic disease management.
His research has explored interactions between air pollutants and infectious disease transmission, such as in the context of the 2021 Fulton County study on COVID-19.
