Jay Platt

Jay Platt is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California's School of Architecture, specializing in heritage conservation and modern design. He currently serves as Principal Planner for the City of Glendale, overseeing historic preservation and design review programs. Platt holds an M.S. in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.

His expertise spans public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including roles at the Los Angeles Conservancy and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. He has developed training programs such as 'LandmarkTHIS!' to empower non-professionals in historic designation processes. Platt also taught historic preservation fundamentals at SUNY/FIT and actively engages in professional speaking and advocacy.

Key areas of focus include policy development, community collaboration, and the evolution of preservation practices. He currently serves as Vice President of the Society of Architectural Historians Southern California Chapter.
