Jay Fiskio is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences and Comparative American Studies at Oberlin College. They are affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Currently on leave during 2023-24, their work focuses on ecocriticism, food justice, and the intersections of climate change with historical systems of oppression.

Research Interests: Fiskio’s scholarship examines agrarianism, climate justice, and environmental literature through a critical lens, linking climate disruption to colonialism, capitalism, and resistance movements. They co-lead the $1M Mellon Foundation grant partnership with Lorain County Community College to advance food justice through humanities research.
Teaching: Courses include ENVS 201 (Environmental Humanities), ENVS 302/CAST 302 (American Agricultures), and ENVS 219 (Climate Change Ethics).
Grants & Partnerships: Key contributor to the Mellon Foundation-funded food studies initiative addressing regional food justice.
