Gustavo Oliveira

Gustavo Oliveira is an Assistant Professor of Geography at Clark University, known for his research on socio-environmental justice and global political ecology. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley, and has taught at institutions including the University of California Irvine, Peking University, and Swarthmore College. His work focuses on Brazil-China relations, agribusiness, deforestation in the Amazon, and the impact of global policies on food supply chains.

• COVID-19’s impact on food supply chains
• Remote sensing for water resource management

• Co-PI on a $750K NASA grant (2023–2026) analyzing irrigation in the Cerrado
