Javier Llorca is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and serves as Scientific Director of the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials (IMDEA Materials Institute) since 2017. He has held leadership roles including Director of IMDEA (2007-2017) and Head of the research group on 'Advanced Structural Materials & Nanomaterials' since 2006.
