Jaume Alonso

Jaume Alonso is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Mathematics at Technische Universität Berlin, affiliated with the Geometry and Mathematical Physics group led by Prof. Yuri Suris. He is also part of the SFB/TRR 109 'Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics' programme. His research focuses on dynamical systems, integrability, and discretization techniques, combining algebraic geometry, numerical experiments, and mathematical software like Mathematica. He holds a PhD from the University of Antwerp (2019), supervised by Prof. Sonja Hohloch, and has taught extensively at both TU Berlin and the University of Antwerp, including courses on Mathematical Physics and Mathematics for Physicists.

Research Interests:

• Discretisation of integrable systems (e.g., Kahan discretisation)
• Birational dynamical systems and their integrability
• Classification of semitoric integrable systems
• Symplectic invariants of Lagrangian fibrations
• Data-driven modelling and applications in physics/chemistry/social sciences

Teaching: Recent roles include lecturing Mathematical Physics III at TU Berlin and coordinating exercise sessions for Mathematics for Physicists courses.

Labs/Teams: Active in the TU Berlin Geometry and Mathematical Physics group and the SFB/TRR 109 collaborative research centre. Collaborations include projects with Prof. Holger Dullin (University of Sydney) and researchers in Milano, Tokyo, and the US.
