Jason Kofke serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching Drawing in the Studio Art Department at Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) in Florence, Italy. He describes his pedagogical approach as 'collaborative laboratories of visual experimentation rather than a teacher-student hierarchy,' emphasizing innovative ways of seeing.
Kofke earned his BFA in 2005 and MFA in 2008 from Savannah College of Art and Design, complemented by a Visiting Scholar Recognition from the China Academy of Art. His academic journey reflects a commitment to international artistic exchange.
As an artist-educator, Kofke employs 'salvage ethnography to attribute meaning to events and artifacts of the past,' creating work across multiple mediums including videos, drawings, installations, performances, and land art. His scholarship focuses on bridging scientific specialization with public understanding through global collaborations with scientists. Kofke's research explores the intersections of science, environment, and culture while preparing students for impending societal transformations related to climate, industry, and human perspectives on Earth and products.
Kofke actively participates in international cultural exchange programs and artist residencies, demonstrating his commitment to cross-cultural dialogue through artistic practice. His work exemplifies the integration of artistic and scientific methodologies to address contemporary global challenges.
