Dr. Jason Gaines is a Senior Professor of Practice and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Jewish Studies at Tulane University. He holds a PhD and MA from Brandeis University in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, along with a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. His research focuses on gender studies (particularly biblical consent), biblical poetry, the Torah/Pentateuch, and social justice. He has authored a book, The Poetic Priestly Source (2015), and multiple articles.
