Jason Bohenek

Dr. Jason Bohenek serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences within the College of Science at the University of North Texas. He teaches Biostatistics I & II (BIOL 5130, 5140) and holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Mississippi and a BS in Biology, Environmental Science, and Philosophy from the University of Scranton.

His research explores multiple biological scales from ecophysiology to community ecology, with emphasis on:

• Environmental-developmental interactions shaping phenotypic outcomes
• Polyphenisms and predation-risk effects
• Chemical camouflage in olfactory modalities
• Dispersal mechanisms and freshwater community assembly
• Habitat selection dynamics in aquatic systems

Publications predominantly focus on aquatic predator-prey interactions, environmental stressors, and community ecology. Recent work investigates species-specific responses to anthropogenic factors like artificial lighting, nutrient pollution, and urbanization effects on aquatic communities.
