Jason B. Fleming, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs of the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is an internationally recognized surgical oncologist specializing in pancreatic cancer. Previously, he held roles as Professor of Surgical Oncology and Chief of Pancreas Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Chair of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He returned to UT Southwestern in 2024 after serving there earlier from 1999 to 2006 as an Assistant and Associate Professor.
Education: Earned his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Science. Completed a general surgery residency and cancer research fellowship at UT Southwestern, followed by a surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson.
Research Interests: Focuses on pancreatic cancer, clinical trials, novel treatment approaches, and multidisciplinary cancer care strategies. Has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to multiple books.
Grants & Awards: Principal investigator for NIH, NCI, and U.S. Army Medical Research grants. Active on editorial boards and as a reviewer for journals like Surgery Open Science.
