Janne Gaub

Dr. Janne Gaub is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with affiliate roles in Public Health Sciences and Public Policy Ph.D. programs. Her research focuses on policing practices, particularly body-worn cameras (BWCs), police misconduct, gender dynamics in law enforcement, and specialized units. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University (2015), along with an M.A. (2009) and B.S. (2008) from Arizona State and the University of Arizona respectively.

Dr. Gaub’s work emphasizes empirical and policy-oriented studies, including analyses of BWC utility, misconduct typologies, and gender disparities in policing. She has contributed to high-impact journals like Criminology and Police Quarterly, and serves as Chair of the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Policing, Executive Counselor for the Division of International Criminology, and editorial board member for Criminal Justice & Behavior.

Her research bridges academic and practical domains, addressing contemporary policing challenges such as technology integration, officer accountability, and organizational reform. Key themes include the societal implications of policing practices and equitable policy development.
