Janka Oertel

Dr Janka Oertel is an Expert Associate at the Australian National University's National Security College and serves as the Director of the Asia Programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations. Her expertise spans EU-China relations, Asia-Pacific security, and emerging technologies.

• Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund's Berlin office
• Former program director at Körber Foundation
• Carlo-Schmid-Fellowship recipient

Her research focuses on transatlantic China policy, Chinese foreign policy, 5G technology, and climate cooperation. She has been a visiting fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP Berlin) and worked at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
