Janet Smith is a Research Fellow in the Politics, Philosophy and Religion department at Lancaster University. Her work focuses on mystical and existentialist theology, with a particular emphasis on gender and queer theory. She completed her doctoral thesis in 2025, arguing for a non-dualistic Christian theological framework that reimagines the divine, self, and embodied existence. Smith has been an active member of academic organizations like the Eckhart Society UK and the Mystical Theology Network.
