Janet Rowley

Janet Rowley is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of East London, where she contributes to the Professional Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology. Her scholarship centers on participatory methodologies, anti-racist praxis, and critical reflection frameworks in educational psychology practice.

Rowley co-leads initiatives promoting decolonisation in psychology training programs and researches inclusive approaches for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students. Her participatory action research projects empower youth as co-researchers addressing social inequities, while her work on remote consultation examines how professionals maintain attuned relationships in digital contexts.

She coordinates research on critical reflection models for trainee educational psychologists, developing tools to support reflective practice that challenges systemic inequalities. Rowley also investigates resource provision effectiveness for Deaf students, amplifying student voices in educational accessibility planning.
