Janet Beauchamp

Janet Beauchamp serves as Senior Lecturer in Housing and Programme Director for the Foundation leading to Social Sciences at Cardiff School of Education & Social Policy, Cardiff Metropolitan University. She joined the institution in 2014 and also directs the Chartered Institute of Housing accredited Housing Studies programmes while teaching on the BSc Sociology and Social Policy programme. Her professional background as a Chartered Town Planner with 20 years of public sector experience informs her academic work.

Beauchamp's research interests center on housing studies, urban design, and community engagement, with particular focus on social housing quality, urban regeneration projects, and affordable housing solutions. Her work bridges academic theory with practical application in housing policy and urban planning, emphasizing co-production approaches with communities and tenants.

Her research portfolio demonstrates consistent engagement with practical housing challenges, including damp and mould issues in social housing, post-occupancy evaluations, and Welsh housing quality standards. This applied research approach reflects her commitment to addressing real-world housing problems through academic inquiry and community collaboration.
