Cheryl Beauchamp, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Engineering & Computer Science and Department Chair at Regent University, where she also directs the Institute for Cybersecurity. She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Virginia Tech, a Master’s in Education from Regent University, and a Bachelor’s in Physics and Computer Science from the Notre Dame University of Maryland. Her research focuses on cybersecurity education, STEM pedagogy, and fostering female persistence in technical fields, supported by NSF grants. She advocates for Christ-centered technology education, emphasizing ethical and spiritual dimensions alongside technical skills.
Dr. Beauchamp’s career transition to academia was inspired by her children’s enthusiasm for STEM, particularly through LEGO building. Her work bridges industry experience (banking software, military systems, and newspaper IT projects) with educational innovation. She is actively involved in community outreach to promote STEM engagement and has authored numerous publications on cybersecurity pedagogy, leadership in engineering education, and teacher professional development.
Her awards include the 2023 Best Cybersecurity Paper Award and the Bevlee Artis Watford Dissertation Award. She is a member of the Computer Science Teacher Association, American Society of Engineering Education, and Association for Computing Machinery. Beyond academia, she enjoys robotics, knitting, and fostering Catholic community involvement.
