Jane Wickersham is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of History at the University of Oklahoma, specializing in Italian and Reformation History with expertise in the Roman Inquisition's prosecution mechanisms in early modern Europe.

Her research centers on the Roman Inquisition's characterization of heresy through ritual practice analysis, as demonstrated in her 2012 monograph Rituals of Prosecution. Current work examines sodomy prosecutions as mixti fori crimes during the Counter Reformation, bridging sacred and secular legal jurisdictions. Publications include contributions to The Seventeenth Century and the Dizionario storico dell’inquisizione.
Professor Wickersham teaches courses on the Reformation, Renaissance, Inquisitions, modern Italy, and religious violence. Previously, she served as Assistant Director of the Center for Renaissance Studies at Chicago's Newberry Library.
