Jane L. Lehr

Jane L. Lehr is Professor in Ethnic Studies and Women’s, Gender & Queer Studies at California Polytechnic State University, where she also serves as Director of the Office of Student Research. Her interdisciplinary scholarship examines intersections of race, gender, science, and technology through critical race and feminist frameworks.

Dr. Lehr's research investigates how power structures shape technological development and scientific knowledge production, with emphasis on equity in STEM education. She co-created the Cal Poly LSAMP program to support underrepresented students in STEM fields and teaches courses on technology, gender, and global development.

Her publications address topics ranging from racialized gender identity in computing disciplines to inclusive research mentorship models. Lehr received Cal Poly's President’s Diversity Award (2014) and Phenomenal Woman Award (2016) for her leadership in equity-centered education and advocacy.
