Dr. Jane Gatley is an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Birmingham, affiliated with the School of Education and the Department of Education and Social Justice. Her research focuses on the philosophy of education, particularly the role of philosophy in school curricula and the conceptualization of knowledge in educational contexts. She previously worked as a secondary school Religious Education teacher. Currently, she teaches modules on Philosophy of Education and Ethics in Education.
Her postdoctoral work develops her PhD research into a monograph arguing for the inclusion of philosophy in schools. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), her research explores the nature and value of philosophy as an academic discipline and its alignment with broader educational aims.
