Dr. Jan Steinheimer-Froschauer is a Research Fellow at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), with affiliations at Goethe University Frankfurt and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His work bridges theoretical physics with computational methods, particularly in Machine Learning applications for Heavy Ion Physics.
Dr. Steinheimer-Froschauer earned his diploma in theoretical physics from Goethe University Frankfurt in 2008, followed by a PhD from the Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Helmholz Graduate School for Heavy Ion Research (HGS Hire) around 2011. His academic career includes postdoctoral positions at FIAS (2011-2012), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2012-2013), and continued research at FIAS since 2013, where he was appointed Research Fellow in 2017.
His research focuses on Machine Learning applications in physics and beyond, with particular expertise in Heavy Ion Physics. He has developed significant educational resources, including contributions to the LON-CAPA online learning network at Goethe University. Dr. Steinheimer-Froschauer has lectured extensively on Machine Learning and Deep Learning applications at Goethe University and international venues including summer schools in Thailand.
