Jamie Leonhart

Jamie Leonhart serves as Lecturer of Studio Composition and Voice at Purchase College's Conservatory of Music. A certified Somatic Voicework™ instructor, she coaches singers across diverse demographics—from middle school students to professional artists—and maintains affiliations with the Somatic Voicework™ Institute and The New School in NYC.

Her artistic practice integrates vocal pedagogy with holistic health approaches, collaborating with body workers and Speech Language Pathologists. Research interests span jazz/contemporary vocal techniques, therapeutic voice applications, and cross-disciplinary performance creation, emphasizing emotional authenticity and technical precision in vocal expression.

Creative output reveals thematic focus on personal narrative and identity, with her 2022 album The Illusion of Blue exploring introspective songwriting and the 2015 commissioned musical Estuary examining artistic motherhood.
