Dr Jamie Hurst is a Senior Lecturer in International Business at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, specializing in Marketing, International Business and Tourism. He holds a PhD from Durham University (St Chad’s College) supported by an ESRC Scholarship, alongside advanced degrees in Research Methods and International Business Management. His research focuses on multinational enterprise (MNE) strategies in emerging markets, particularly tax haven utilization, capital in transit, and Asian business dynamics in South Korea, China, and Japan.
Dr Hurst has professional experience in international investment analytics (South Korea), business analytics (China), and roles at Accenture advising Fortune 500 clients like Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson. His teaching responsibilities include leading Global Political Economy and Contemporary Issues (Level 5) and APPD (Level 4) units, while supervising MSc and undergraduate students in International Business Management.
His research explores MNE activity measurement challenges, including corporate inversions and the implications of offshore intermediary jurisdictions for Chinese FDI. Frequent visits to South Korea for research and networking complement his academic work, supported by British Council collaborations in China.
