James T. Olsen

Dr. James T. Olsen serves as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry within the School of Natural and Social Sciences at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU), joining the faculty after completing his doctoral studies at Baylor University in 2025.

His academic credentials include:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Grove City College (2020), with research conducted in Virgil Percec's laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania
• Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry, Baylor University (2025), under advisor John L. Wood

Dr. Olsen's research specializes in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, focusing on total synthesis of biologically active natural products to develop novel therapeutics for neglected diseases. His methodology emphasizes constructing synthetic routes to bioactive small molecules, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and an ongoing patent application.
