Chris Smith

Chris Smith is an Associate Professor of Worship Leadership at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU), bringing extensive experience in music education and church ministry. Prior to joining ETBU, he taught guitar and music technology at Samford University and served as Minister of Music and Youth at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

With over two decades of active involvement in church music, Dr. Smith combines academic expertise with practical leadership in worship and music technology. His professional work spans studio recordings, national and international performances, and teaching roles that emphasize excellence in music and worship. He is currently the Associate Worship Pastor at Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Longview and is married to Rachel Holland Smith, a music educator at Spring Hill Intermediate School, with whom he has two daughters: Summerlyn Grace and Kilee Rae.
