James H. Bemiller

James H. Bemiller is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He also serves as Faculty Advisor for Partners in Sports, a student organization dedicated to developing leadership and management skills in sport industry students. His roles include membership on the CEHHS College Senate, UT Student Conduct Board, and as HPER building representative.

Education: JD (Doctor of Jurisprudence, University of Tennessee), MS (Human Performance and Sport Studies, University of Tennessee), BS (Miami University).

Research focuses on legal issues in sport, leadership theories, and coaching performance. He has published extensively on topics like sport law compliance, Olympic sustainability, and pole vault technique. His coaching background includes training Olympic, World, and NCAA champions in pole vault.

Selected honors include the 2019 CEHHS Dean’s Service Award and induction into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame (2011). His work combines legal expertise with sport management, emphasizing ethical governance and athlete welfare.
