James Cicon

Dr. James Cicon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Central Missouri's Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance, a JD in Intellectual Property and Corporate Finance, and an MBA from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, along with a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University.

His academic work spans multiple finance disciplines, including behavioral finance, corporate governance, and asset management. His research often examines how corporate communication affects market perception through studies on earnings conference calls and strategic information disclosure.

Notable publications include analyses of IPO underpricing, corporate honesty impacts on performance, and CEO emotional states' influence on firm outcomes. His 2013 paper on earnings forecasts received the JFR Outstanding Article Award. Several publications have attracted media attention from The Wall Street Journal.
