Pia Helbing

Pia Helbing is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith Business School (Accounting & Finance Department). Previously, she held positions at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Leeds. She earned her PhD in Finance from Trinity College Dublin in 2018. Her research focuses on corporate finance, particularly firm financing decisions across their lifecycle, venture capital/private equity dynamics, and IPO phenomena including withdrawal, overpricing, and post-IPO performance.

Her work analyzes IPO withdrawal determinants, cross-border venture capital investments influenced by historical conflicts, and payout policies' impact on firm performance. She serves as Associate Editor for Finance Research Letters and Research in International Business and Finance, and reviews for multiple journals. Current supervision interests include ESG disclosure effects on IPO underpricing and venture capital syndication strategies.

Her recent publications explore topics like venture capital team value creation and the long-term performance implications of IPO overpricing, contributing to both theoretical and applied corporate finance discourse.
