Jameel Inal is Professor of Immunobiology at London Metropolitan University's School of Human Sciences, where he leads the Cell Communication in Disease Pathology research group. He holds a Microbiology BSc from King's College London, Virology MPhil, and PhD from Porton Down. With postdoctoral experience at LSHTM, Oxford, and Basel, he founded London Met's Cellular and Molecular Immunology Research Centre.
His research examines extracellular vesicles in disease mechanisms, focusing on infectious diseases and cancer pathogenesis. He has supervised 13 PhD students and 48 MSc projects, with current oversight of 6 PhD students and a postdoctoral researcher. Professional memberships include the Royal Society of Biology (Fellow), International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (founding member), and editorial roles for Scientific Reports and Frontiers journals.
Research integrates extracellular vesicle biology with therapeutic development across virology, parasitology, and oncology, including COVID-19 therapeutic strategies and cancer treatment sensitization.
