Jakob Ohme is a Research Fellow leading the 'Digital News Dynamics' research group at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society in Berlin. His work focuses on the impact of digital platforms on news consumption, political engagement, and generational differences in media usage. He also serves as a Co-Principal Investigator in the #DSA40 Collaboratory, advancing collaborative data access under the EU’s Digital Services Act.
During his visiting period at the QUT Digital Media Research Centre (5–11 June 2024), he explored interdisciplinary approaches to digital media dynamics. His research emphasizes innovative methodologies, such as digital trace data, to study political communication and journalism in the digital age.
Key research interests include the evolution of news dissemination through influencers, AI, and traditional journalism, alongside the sociotechnical implications of mobile and digital communication technologies.
