Giada Marino is a Research Fellow at the Department of Economics and Business, University of Sassari, where she contributes to the I-POLHYS research team studying citizens and polarization. She holds a PhD in Sociology of Communication from the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, with a dissertation focusing on online identities and ephemeral social media content. She was a visiting researcher at the QUT Digital Media Research Centre (Australia) during June 2024. Her research explores digital media, participatory culture, and problematic information dissemination, employing digital methods.
Her work includes analyzing political news engagement on Facebook through the Mapping Italian News project (since 2017), funded by Open Society Foundation and others. Key publications appear in journals like iCS-Information, Communication & Society, Comunicazione Politica, and Problemi dell’Informazione e Mediascapes. She investigates how ephemeral content shapes self-presentation and societal polarization in digital spaces.
