Jakob Fedler

Jakob Fedler, born in 1978 in Cologne and raised in Wuppertal, is a freelance theater director and part-time lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts (Faculty 3). He studied theater directing at the Zurich University of the Arts and has collaborated with major German theaters such as Deutsche Theater Berlin, Wuppertal Opera, and Staatstheater Nürnberg.

His research and artistic work focus on contemporary theater practices, youth engagement in performing arts, and experimental stagings. He has participated in festivals like 'radikal jung' and contributed to innovative productions at venues including DT-Box.

At Folkwang, he teaches acting direction, emphasizing artistic experimentation and mentorship. His notable achievements include a 2010 award at the Bavarian Theater Days and a 2009 nomination as Emerging Director of the Year.
