About
Dr. Jacob Turner is Assistant Professor of Computational Fluid Dynamics in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southampton (2019) and a B.Eng. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the same institution (2013). His research employs high-fidelity simulations to study compressible flows, aeroacoustics, and fluid-structure interaction in aerospace applications.
Prior to CSU, Dr. Turner conducted postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins University developing immersed boundary methods for transonic flutter prediction, and at Southampton's Institute of Sound and Vibration Research analyzing airfoil noise mechanisms. His current work advances computational methods for high-speed flows including hypersonic propulsion systems.
Honors include the BAE Systems Award for best aerospace project (2013) and Physics of Fluids Editor's Pick (2020). He teaches Fluid Mechanics and supervises graduate research in CFD and aerodynamics.
