Research Interests: Rona's work encompasses CFD modeling of turbomachinery aerodynamics, aeroacoustic noise reduction, and thermal management using nanofluids. He has pioneered endwall contouring techniques to improve gas turbine efficiency and explored hybrid nanofluids for enhanced heat transfer. His studies also extend to physiological fluid dynamics, such as Fontan circulation modeling in cardiology.
Grants & Collaborations: He led UKRI-funded projects through HPC Midlands Plus and Sulis, collaborating with institutions like Aston University, Birmingham, and The Alan Turing Institute. His industry partnerships include roles at Alstom Power (General Electrics) and the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.
Labs & Teams: Rona supervises graduate students in turbine design optimization, nanofluid heat transfer, and CFD applications. His lab focuses on experimental validation and numerical simulation of complex flows, including Taylor-Couette systems and transonic cavity flows.
