About
Jacob Schacter is a Senior Scholar at the YU Center for the Jewish Future, a University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought, and an Adjunct Instructor in Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University. He can be reached at jschacte@yu.edu.
Dr. Schacter's research and teaching focus on Jewish History and Thought, with a particular emphasis on the development and preservation of Sephardic communities in North America and beyond. He contributes to programs such as the Jacob E. Safra Institute of Sephardic Studies (JSISS) and the Sephardic Community Program (SCP), which provide spiritual, educational, and cultural resources to Sephardic and Near Eastern Jewish communities.
His work spans the historical and cultural aspects of Sephardic life, including the integration of Sephardic traditions within broader Jewish scholarship. He has been involved in fostering partnerships between Yeshiva University and Sephardic communities across the globe, addressing their unique needs in synagogues, educational institutions, and communal organizations.
