Jacob Narverud

Dr. Jacob Narverud serves as a Visiting Professor of Choral Conducting at Kansas State University within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. His professional profile extends to Founding Artistic Director of the Tallgrass Chamber Choir, Editor of Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Inc., and Composer-in-Residence for the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus.

Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Emporia State University and Master of Music/Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

As a composer and arranger, Dr. Narverud has produced over 150 published works, many achieving international best-seller status across diverse choral ensembles. His creative research focuses on developing accessible, high-quality repertoire commissioned by over sixty organizations globally—including ensembles in Australia, Canada, and Japan—demonstrating significant impact on contemporary choral practice.

His editorial role at Santa Barbara Music Publishing directly supports knowledge dissemination in the field, while his graduate teaching at Kansas State University cultivates next-generation choral conductors.
