About
Jacob Lewis is Senior Lecturer of Cell and Molecular Biology at University of Wollongong's School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience. An NHMRC Investigator and ARC DECRA Fellow, he leads research on DNA replication dynamics using cryo-EM and single-molecule biophysics.
His work challenges textbook models of replication machinery through structural studies of origin activation and replisome heterogeneity. Current projects investigate mitochondrial DNA replication and replication fork stalling mechanisms relevant to cancer therapeutics.
Lewis maintains collaborations with international institutions including the Francis Crick Institute and holds continuous fellowship support since 2019. His research combines biochemical reconstitution with advanced imaging to analyze nucleic acid-protein interactions.
