Dr. Jacob Berglin is an Assistant Professor of Music Education and Head of Professional Education at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, Western Michigan University. His research focuses on diversity, inclusion, and access in music education, particularly regarding transgender student participation, contemporary a cappella practices in secondary classrooms, and intersections of race, class, and gender. Before academia, he taught middle/high school music, directing choirs and teaching general music courses (piano, guitar, music technology). He is an active choral singer, clinician, and adjudicator in both classical and contemporary a cappella contexts.
