About
Jaco Geuchies is an Assistant Professor at Leiden University's Leiden Institute of Chemistry (LIC), affiliated with the Fundamental Research in Energy & Sustainability group. His work combines advanced spectroscopic techniques to study energy-related materials such as colloidal nanocrystals and metal-halide perovskites. He holds a PhD from Utrecht University (2017) and has held postdoctoral roles at TU Delft and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. Research focuses on ultrafast spectroscopy, self-assembly mechanisms, and interfacial processes.
Education: BSc (cum laude) from Hogeschool Utrecht/Utrecht University (2011), MSc (cum laude) in Chemistry & Physics: Nanomaterials (2013), PhD in Condensed Matter and Interfaces (2017). Awards include the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship (2021) and NWO/ESRF grant (2013). Teaches "Statistische thermodynamica en Spectroscopie" (BSc MST). Active in synchrotron-based research and grants, including proposals for X-ray scattering experiments and electron microscopy.
