JD Fleming is a Professor in the Department of English at Simon Fraser University (SFU). His research focuses on the history and philosophy of Western science and technology in the early-modern period (1500-1700), exploring how modern intellectual norms emerged during this era. He co-founded the international conference series *Scientiae: Disciplines of Knowing in the Early Modern World* in 2011 and organized its inaugural event at SFU Vancouver (2012) and the 2019 conference at Queen's University, Belfast.
