J.P. Wilson is an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), serving since 2000. He leads the SAU Marching Mulerider Band and conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. His roles include teaching instrumental conducting, music education methods, and orchestration/arranging courses.
- Education: B.M.E. from University of Central Arkansas; M.M. in Instrumental Conducting and Tuba Performance from Northeast Louisiana University.

Wilson actively serves as a guest clinician and adjudicator, and has held roles as principal tuba in the Monroe Symphony Orchestra. He is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma chapters.
