J.A. Carter

J.A. Carter is an Associate Professor of Sociology in the Behavioral Science Department at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College since August 2022. Previously, she served as Visiting Assistant Professor at Miami University Regionals (2010–2018) and Assistant Professor at University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College (2018–2022). Her work bridges sociology, media studies, and health institutions.

Her research focuses on gender and sexualities in sports, healthcare, and media contexts. Notable awards include the Charles Phelps Taft Dissertation Fellowship (2012), UC Blue Ash College Inclusive Excellence Award (2021), and multiple UC Provost’s and GC3 Faculty Excellence Awards. She has contributed to book chapters and encyclopedic works on gender dynamics in sports and health.
