Ivan Matic is a researcher affiliated with the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in France. He currently serves as a First Class Research Director and Principal Investigator of the laboratory 'Robustness and evolvability of life' at the Institut Cochin, a joint research unit of INSERM U1016, CNRS UMR8104, and the University of Paris. His career spans multiple prestigious institutions, including INSERM U1001 and the Institute Jacques Monod.
Education:
- PhD in Cellular and Molecular Genetics (1995), University of Paris XI, Orsay, France
- Master in Molecular Genetics (1990), University of Zagreb, Croatia
- Engineer Degree in Environmental Biology (1983), Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia
Matic’s research focuses on fundamental biological and evolutionary questions, including the evolution of mutation rates, phenotypic variability, and genome stability. His work integrates molecular mechanisms with evolutionary and ecological processes, exploring how organisms adapt to stress responses and antibiotic resistance.
