Ivan Jerkovic

Ivan Jerkovic is a Full Professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. His professional experience spans the Center for Social Work, General Hospital-School Dispensary, Faculty of Pedagogy, and the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. He holds leadership roles including Head of the Department of Psychology in the National Assembly, President of the Serbian Psychological Society, and member of councils within the Serbian Academy of Sciences.

Education: Primary and secondary education in Sombor; bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. Additional training includes courses in transactional analysis, systemic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, and trauma intervention.

Research Focus: Professor Jerkovic investigates developmental disorders, teacher/student competencies, and psychology history, with emphasis on educational systems, clinical psychology of developmental age, and sociocultural factors influencing learning environments.

Publication Trends: His research (1997–2015) centers on educational psychology, teacher training reforms, student mental health, and historical analyses of Serbian psychology. Key themes include systemic educational challenges, cross-cultural studies, and clinical-developmental psychology.

Projects & Leadership: Head of international projects including Open Society Institute Budapest collaborations ('Teach Me, I Will Teach You'; 'How to Become Better') and the Provincial Secretariat project 'Values, Attitudes and Roles: A Transgenerational Perspective.' Actively involved in the Finnish Project for Teacher Education Development in Serbia.
