Isabelle R. Miousse

Isabelle R. Miousse is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), affiliated with the College of Medicine and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is also a member of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on cancer metabolism and epigenetics, particularly the role of methionine in DNA/histone methylation in tumors. She earned her Ph.D. at McGill University, Canada.

Research Interests:

• Cancer metabolism with emphasis on methyl donor pathways (folate, vitamin B12, methionine)
• Differential methionine utilization in cancer vs. normal cells
• Methionine restriction as a therapeutic strategy
• KRAS-mutant rectal cancer interactions
• Immunocompetent murine cancer models
• Molecular mechanisms of methionine dependence

Advising & Grants: Dr. Miousse has mentored students like Clai Morehead (MD/PhD candidate) and received funding for projects on methionine restriction with immune checkpoint inhibitors in melanoma, radiation therapy synergy with methionine restriction in rectal cancer, and proteomics studies on melanoma metabolism.

Labs & Teams: She works from the Biomedical Research Center 1, B421E office and B410 lab. Her team includes Staff Scientist Sarita Garg and has hosted summer students and research technologists.
